The following are the minimum promotion requirements:

GRADE 8 - 9:    

Learners must achieve:

• Level 4 (50% – 59%) for English HL
• Level 3 (40% – 49%) for Afrikaans FAL/IsiZulu FAL
• Level 3 (40% – 49%) in Mathematics
• Level 3 (40% – 49%) in 3 other learning areas
• Level 2 (30% – 39%) in 2 other learning areas

GRADES 10 - 12:

       
Learners must achieve:

• Level 3 (40% – 49%) in English HL
• Level 3 (40% – 49%) in two other subjects
• Level 2 (30% – 39%) in 3 other subjects
